Sanuki-Shishigashira
Originally, the "lion head" was laid and worshiped in front of the gods and Buddhas, but it is said that this was eventually manipulated to express the Shinto Buddha. It is believed that the lion dance began to be dedicated to the shrine during the festival, praying for the peace of the world and the rich harvest. The feature of Sanuki's lion head is that it is made by the method of pachinko except for a part of chin, ears and handle. After laminating Japanese paper on a clay or wood mold, punching it out, making a base with chalk or lacquer, and giving it various decorations, it is completed. One of the major features is that it is made of dry lacquer and is lightweight and durable.
