"Poinsettia" which is often seen at Christmas time is a shrub (short tree) belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae. Flowers bloom in the center of the bracts, but you can see the bracts that are colored red mainly in winter. Originally native to Central America, he was introduced to Europe by Poinsett in 1838 and was introduced to Japan during the Meiji era.
