Statice comes from the Mediterranean region, including Sicily and North Africa. It is a semi-cold-tolerant, perennial flower that prefers warm and dry climates, but is treated as an annual flower in cut-flower cultivation. It can be divided into two main types: early-season varieties for accelerated cultivation and mid- to late-season varieties for open-air cultivation. The fresh flowers have a dry texture and are characterized by their long lasting and sweet fragrance. The color and shape of the flowers do not usually change even when dried, so they can even be enjoyed as dried flowers. They can also be shipped at the end of the year using year-round shipment in which the flowers are refrigerated.
