  Kaji visits Hirai Ishi, a manufacturer of sanukite products, in search of the charm of Sanukiite, a stone from the Goshikidai area. First of all, you will be taught while actually working on the process of turning a rough gemstone into an instrument. "Since Sanukite is a very hard rock, we first cut it out into thin slabs (plates). We grind the slabs by about 0.5 mm (cutting) and adjust the tone while cutting the thickness and length of the stones. It becomes a stone instrument, "says Hirai. The slab with adjusted tone is a musical instrument called "Sekikin" that plays a unique beautiful tone.

  Sanukite is also called "Kankan Stone" because it gives a pleasant tone of "Khan Khan" when hit. He said that the opening ceremony at the last Tokyo Olympics was a rare stone instrument in the world, and that the sound of Sanukite was beautiful.   Kaji who was interested in Sanukite visited the Kagawa Prefectural Goshikidai Shonen Nature Center to find out its history and characteristics. Mr. Nada, an expert in geoscience, taught me. "Sanukite is said to be a rock that has been cooled and solidified from the active lava of an active volcano about 1400 million years ago, and is characterized by a unique way of weathering. Its name comes from 1891 It is said that the German rock scholar Weinshake took Sanu of Sanuki in the name of Kagawa Prefecture in 1400 and named it Sanukite, which is now a world-class scientific name.
